On Sunday July 7 I am giving a keynote at the annual Oxford Food Symposium. Among the citrus-filled stories in my talk are two fairytales: Giambattista Basile’s “The Three Citrons” and Luigi Capuana’s “The Golden Oranges.” I am nervous and excited: there is so much food in fairy tales and yet not a lot of scholarly work has been done on them.
